The tour can start
from We will meet at
your hotel and drive to the houseboat in car or minivan. After a two hours
drive we will make a break at one of The last part of
the tour is done quickly and at about 3 PM we reach our destination. The
houseboat is anchored up in a tranquil small fishing village. We sail out
through this peaceful environment. The rest of the day you are free to relax
as you like. Take a swim, enjoy
the sun or take a nap in a hammock. The cook will prepare a great dinner. The breeze from the lake secures a comfortable temperature. Night on the

Day 2 – Waterfall and

After breakfast we paddle a short
tour in kayak to the bottom of a small bay. You can hear the waterfall from
the distance and we arrive after 20 minutes walk through the jungle. Back on the houseboat the course is
set towards coconut island. We will have lunch during the two hour trek and
there will also be time for a couple of swims. Coconut island is one of few
inhabited islands. The small village consist of seven people there makes a
living out of their rare kind of coconut. Cacao is grown as well. Of course we will taste the local
coconut and bring a couple back. We will cross the island and the boat will
pick us op on the other side. Sailing slowly up the lake we will pass some
tall cliffs dropping directly into the lake. We will take a break here before

Day 3 – The Elephant

Take a ride on the elephants - Bamboo rafting
down the river. +++++++ After breakfast we will use the kayaks to
reach five small caves not far from the houseboat. It’s possible to paddle inside
and if you are lucky you will see the bats. After lunch we will be picked up by a longtail-boat that will take us up river. At the Karen
village the elephants will be waiting for the ride lasting about an hour. They
will take you through unique jungle. A snack in the open will be served,
before we do the bamboo-rafting. You can try to steer the raft or just lean
back and enjoy the scenery. During the monsoon this part of the tour is only
for the adventurous as it takes a good balance in the roaring river. Back on the boat take a glass of wine and
enjoy the sight of the sun setting behind the mountains. The locals sail out
to put up their fishing nets. The starry sky feels very close to earth and
you will get the chance to count shooting stars in the tropical night. Night on the

Day 4 – Arrival in Sangklaburi (B, L) |

Enjoy the day swimming, fishing or sun bathing. After lunch and an hour of sailing its time
to say goodbye. The houseboat will anchor up in Sangklaburi
where Karen, Mon and After this we walk to the charming village
Wang Kha, where the Mon people live. They are said
to be of Indian or Mongolian origin and are recognized by their special
clothing (longyi/sarong) We will continue to the main town Sangklaburi via the longest wooden bridge in Already having experienced so much you can

![Broen over floden Kwai (originaltitel: The Bridge on the River Kwai) er en engelsk krigsfilm fra 1957, finanseret af amerikanske interesser, om 2. verdenskrig , baseret på den franske forfatter Pierre Boulle's bog: Le Pont de la Rivière Kwaï. Den er instrueret af David Lean og har Alec Guinness, Sessue Hayakawa, Jack Hawkins og William Holden i hovedrollerne. Den blev filmet primært i Sri Lanka (det daværende Ceylon) nær Kitulgala, med nogle få scener filmet i England. Det er en meget britisk krigsfilm, hvor den amerikanske skuespiller William Holden kun er med, for at give filmen en bredere appel, specielt i Amerika, og for at tilgodese de amerikanske interesser, som finanserede filmen. De kvindelige bærere blev tilføjet for at der skulle være et større kvindeligt islæt. Historisk akkuratesse Broen over floden Kwai juni 2004. De rundt formede brofag er de originale, de firkantede blev leveret af japanerne som krigsskadeerstatning.Det er stort omfang fiktive film plot er baseret på konstruktionen i 1943 af en af jernbanebroerne over Mae Klong-floden - omdøbt til Khwae Yai i 1960'erne - på et sted kaldet Tha Makham, fem kilometer fra den thailandske by Kanchanaburi. Det var som led i et projekt gående ud på at forbinde eksisterende thailandske og burmesiske jernbanelinier for at skabe en rute fra Bangkok, Thailand til Rangoon, Burma (nu Myanmar) for at understøtte den japanske okkupation af Burma. Omkring hundred tusinde tvangsudskrevne asiatiske arbejdere og 12.000 krigsfanger døde under hele projektet.
Broen Kwai, 2003Selvom lidelserne i forbindelse med bygningen af Burma jernbanen er sande, er tilskikkelserne som portrætteres i filmen for det meste fiktive. Historisk set var forholdene langt værre. Den rigtige øverste allierede officer på broen var Lieutenant Colonel Philip Toosey. Nogle mener at filmen er en fornærmende parodi på Toosey.[2] På et BBC Timewatch program, gør en tidligere krigsfange gældende, at det er usandsynligt at en mand som den fiktive Nicholson kunne værre blevet lieutenant colonel; og hvis han var, ville han være blevet "stille elimineret" af de andre fanger. Julie Summers skriver i sin bog: The Colonel of Tamarkan, at Pierre Boulle, som havde været krigsfange i Thailand, skabte den fiktive Nicholson karakter som et amalgam af sine erindringer om kollaborerende franske officerer.
Toosey var meget forskellig fra Nicholson og var bestemt ingen kollaboratør, som følte han havde pligt til at samarbejde med japanerne. Toosey gjorde faktisk så meget som muligt for at forsinke konstruktionen af broen. Medens Nicholson vender sig mod alle former for sabotage og andre overlagte forsøg på at forsinke udførelsen, opmuntrede Toosey til det: Hvide myrer blev indsamlet for at æde trækonstruktionerne, og betonen blev blandet dårligt. Nogle af karaktererne i filmen har navne efter rigtige personer, som var indblandet i Burma Jernbanen. Hverken deres roller eller karakterer ser ud til at være portrætteret ordentligt. For eksempel var Sergeant-Major Saito næstkommanderende i lejren. I filmen er en oberst af samme navn øverstkommanderende. I virkeligheden blev Saito respekteret af sine fanger for - i sammenligning med andre - at være barmhjertig og fair overfor dem; Toosey forsvarede ham senere i hans krigsforbryder-retssag efter krigen, og de to blev venner. Ødelæggelsen af broen , som vist i filmen, er fuldstændig fiktiv. I virkeligheden blev der bygget to broer: en midlertidig træbro og en permanent stål- og betonbro et par måneder senere.
