Koh Tachai (19) One of the premium dive sites in the world, south of the island,
starting at 12m, lays a large pinnacle littered with rocks, gorgonian fans,
stag-horn, brain, table, plate and wire corals. A reliable site for mantas
later in the season, plus several whale shark sightings, giant trevally, leopad sharks, large
tuna and emperor all serve to make this a truly memorable Koh
Bon (18) Steep ridge and wall with good soft coral coverage,Marine life includes octopi, sea kraits,
scorpion fish, nudibranchs and small reef sharks.
Predictable site for manta rays. Three Trees (17) Depth 10-30m, Visibility 10-35m, currents can be strong Starts at the southern end with huge submerged rock, then
runs into a gently sloping white sand reef. Good for several species of
shark, particularly leopad and white tip. Medium
sized pelagics in mid water and great reef action
including visits by napoleon wrasse. North Point (16) Striking, huge submerged, geometric, rock sloping down
into the deep each fringed with gorgonian and sea fans. Rich in reef fish,
reliable for turtles, has potato-cod, large shoals of batfish and snapper. Breakfast Bend (15) One of the most beautiful reefs in the Similans, with excellent light, particularly in the
morning. A white sand reef dropping to a sandy bottom at 35 m. covered in hard
coral and gorgonians. Has an abundance of reed fish, hump-head parrotfish,
white tip and black tip sharks, stingrays plus other pelagic action Barracuda Point (14) Steep ridge and wall with good soft coral coverage.
Marine life includes octopi, sea kraits, scorpionfish,
nudibranchs and small reef sharks. Predictable site
for manta rays. Christmas Point (13) Cluttered with arches and narrow swim-through. Many
species of hard and soft corals, cowries shells. Giant, fimbriated
and ribbon eels. Surgeons and unicorn fish, several species of shark, shoals
of oriental sweet-lips plus Picasso clown fish. Snapper Alley (12) Boulders creating underwater canyons. Tree corals, seafans and wire corals. Good representation of small invertebrates,
and as the name suggests, snappers. Donald Duck-M16-Shoe Bay (11) Outer part has series of boulders with enjoyable swim-throughs. Marine life includes snappers, butterfly fish,
lionfish, scorpionfish and trumpet fish. Great
night dive for tiny invertebrates. Beware of boat traffic in the shallows. Fantasy Reef (10) Huge variety of both hard and soft corals and all manners
of marine life. Site currently closed for conservation reasons. Beacon Point (9) Deep dive punctuated by gorgonian sea fans and wire
corals. Many trigger fish and small reef sharks. Cruising mantas |

Elephant Head (8) Enormous boulders with matrix of swim-throughs.
Table corals and sea fans. Coral trout, Moorish idols, goatfish, lionfish, triggerfish,
snappers & nudibranchs. Deep Six
(7) Coral covered boulders. Sea fans, wire corals, barrel
sponges, feather stars and reef sharks. Morning Edge (6) Ridges of boulders. Lots of hard and soft corals,
sponges, sea fans and small reef sharks. East of White sand reef with several submerged pinnacles all
adorned with tremendous examples of soft corals, sea fans and wire corals.
Sloping reef rich with garden eels, sting ray sea turtles plus a wide
selection of reef fish including tangs wrasse and parrotfish. Bird Rock
(4) Steep ridge with many large sea fans Marine life includes
turtles, triggerfish and leopard sharks in the depths. Shark Fin Reef-Hin
Phae (3) Submerged shelf of geometrically shaped boulders. Corals
include acropora, dendrophyllia
and gorgonian seafans in the deeper waters. Reef
and whale sharks, stingrays and Napoleon wrasse Boulders with archways, caves and ledges. Corals include
fire, table staghorns and gorgonian seafans. Leopard sharks, stinggrays,
lionfish, tunas, barracudas, groupers and surgeonfish. Popular dusk dive. Extensive coral gardens with large
tables of branching corals. Also numerous gorgonian seafans
and whips. Oriental sweetlips, snappers and
fusiliers. |
